Backcountry Hut Surf Shack

Backcountry homes shouldn’t be reserved for only the wealthy. Or at least that is what the team behind the Backcountry Hut Surf Shack thinks.

Inspired by IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad and his mission to provide well designed products to a broader market, this shack is intended for true surf bums looking to carve out their own spot near the beach. Designed to be a turnkey home, the hut is prefabricated off-site, and then assembled around a wood post and beam skeleton. Assembly is uncomplicated, requiring little more than a crew of volunteers. Have a growing family? The surf getaway is designed to be scalable in 10-foot increments. And for those who want to retain a degree of individuality, the hut is offered in a number of different options for bot the interior and exterior finishes.
