Before it was called the Royal Air Force, George Bulman was awarded the Military Cross and the Air Force Cross for his bravery and service in the British Royal Flying Corps. Following his stint in the military, he went on to become a test pilot and director of the Hawker Aircraft Company — famous for building the Hawker Hurricane fighter plane. Now, the folks at Avi-8 pay homage to this aviation legend with their Bulman Edition Hawker Hurricane Chronograph.

Available in three color variations, each of these timepieces is powered by a reliable and accurate Japanese Seiko TMI quartz chronograph movement housed inside a sturdy stainless steel case — which is waterproof to 5ATM. And the unique dial with its dual sub-dials and date window can be viewed through a scratch-resistant mineral crystal even in low light, thanks to luminous markings on the indices and hands. And these 45mm watches are each paired to a hand-stitched leather strap for a complete package that’s as handsome as it is useful. Pricing starts at $219.

Purchase: $219+
