For a lot of guys, the most important part of the house isn’t the backyard or the kitchen – but the garage. It is where wrenches get turned, oil gets spilled, and the best of the fleet rests during the week. So it’s not too surprising that when this Austin, Texas-based car nut got a chance to build his own home – he made the garage the most prominent part. Introducing the Autohaus.
Designed by Austin’s own MFArchitecture, this modern structure boasts a pair of sleek wooden garage doors that slide open to reveal an entire floor dedicated to automobiles. Intended to be used both as storage and as a shop, it is a veritable petrol playground. But the house offers up much more than just ample space for working on cars. The second level features a large open space for gathering as well as a bedroom, bath, and patio – all of which benefit from the ample sunlight of the Texas sky.
