As a rule of thumb for a small brand, five successful years of business warrants a bit of a celebration. And in the case of independent watch brand Autodromo, celebration comes in the form of a special edition automatic chronograph. It’s a reissue to their Monoposto (meaning ‘single seat’), which was launched back in 2012 as a tribute to Grand Prix racing.
Making everything tick is a Seiko NE88 Automatic Chronograph movement housed within a 43mm stainless steel case and sapphire domed crystal with an anti-reflective coating. The movement is one if Japan’s finest, hosting 34 jewels, a column wheel, and vertical clutch. However, perhaps what’s most striking about this watch is the line between 10 and 11 o’clock position. It’s a nod the iconic Redline crystal, a marking on the car’s rev counter to prevent the driver from blowing up the engine, clearly before the days of electronic rev limiters. It’s available in either black, silver, or Azzurro colorway dials, boast a 5 ATM water resistant rating, and are limited to an edition of 500. Available now for $1,800. [Purchase]
