If Audi’s Prologue Avant Concept doesn’t convince you just how badass wagons are, then we don’t know what will. Set to debut at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, today we get our first look at this luxury 5-door.
With an identical front end to the Prologue Coupe revealed last year by the brand, the Prologue Avant sees a D-pillar and extra door added to the mix. The shooting brake version is still sporty looking, and packs a mean punch too. Under the hood is a diesel-electric plug-in hybrid drivetrain that sees a 353-horsepower 3.0-liter TDI turbo diesel V6 engine mated to a 134-horsepower electric motor. This combined 455 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque is pumped right through an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox, feeding all four wheels via Audi’s beloved Quattro all-wheel drive system. So what does this all this mean to you? It means a 0-62 mph time of 5.1 seconds, a top speed of 155 mph, and a 147 miles per gallon with the ability to run on the 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery alone for over 50 miles. Sure, it’s just a concept at this time, but we could imagine this one eventually making its way to the assembly line. With some slight alterations of course.
