Here’s the thing with classic cars: if there’s one you’re pining after from years long gone, it’s pretty much guaranteed that you’ll never get one brand new. At the very least, you won’t be the one breaking it in. There are, however, extremely rare occasions where nearly untouched examples emerge and head to auction, like phoenixes rising from the ashes – which is exactly the story behind this 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR.
This is no ordinary classic Porsche, however oxymoronic that might sound. No, this one is all the more special and rare because it is a racing-spec track-ready version. Which has been nearly untouched for the last 25 years. And has only 6.2 miles on the odometer. Total. In fact, this 911 Carrera RSR (one of only two examples with a fully trimmed interior of the 51 ever made) is completely original as-delivered and even still has the factory-applied Cosmoline rust-inhibiting coating. And that means it still has a 3.8-liter engine beneath the hood that was capable of at least 375 horsepower and could hit 60 in just 3.7 seconds brand new. But, this level of exclusivity comes with a price, as its auction starts at 2.17 million dollars.
