Movie cars almost always fetch high dollar amounts at auction — it’s pretty much an unwritten condition of sale. So, when such a vehicle happens to be the very Porsche that not only launched Tom Cruise’s film career but also taught him how to drive a stick shift, needless to say, the final hammer price should prove quite a shocker.
Pictured before you is the hero car — a 1979 928 — used throughout the filming of Risky Business. One of three vehicles driven on set, and among just two shot during the iconic chase scene, it’s made even more remarkable given that it was the subject of the documentary The Quest for the RB928 (Risky Business 928). And here’s the thing — the car is in immaculate condition, stored in a climate-controlled facility and religiously maintained after making its debut on the silver screen. Add to that a feature at the Petersen Automotive Museum as well as a slew of signatures from the Risky Business cast, and you have a car that’s packed to the gills with Hollywood greatness. Catch it this September at Barrett-Jackson’s Houston auction.
