Calling Steve McQueen a motor vehicle fan is definitely an understatement. In fact, on top of the rides he drove in his movies, the King of Cool had a massive collection of cars and motorcycles that numbered in the dozens, at least. Admittedly, however, some of those vehicles were better than others. Take, for instance, his magnificent 1945 Willys Jeep MB — which just happens to be headed to auction.
Not nearly as exotic as, say, McQueen’s 1969 Porsche 908 Spyder or his 1958 Porsche 1600 Super Speedster, this vehicle is no less an iconic and important one — especially considering its historical military significance. Done up in classic Olive Drab, this 4×4 SUV still boasts its original two-cylinder engine and has seen a complete renovation and recommission to get it back into the condition in which it would have been during McQueen’s ownership. The sale also includes the original blue California license plates and a certificate of authenticity. For movie and automotive fans alike, this lot — which is anticipated to go for at least $100,000 — cannot be missed.
