Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of years, you’re well aware of WhatsApp — a freeware and cross-platform messaging and Voice over IP service that’s owned by Facebook. It turns out that the co-founder of the wildly successful tech company is also a huge fan of Porsche’s iconic vehicles — and now, he’s auctioning off a significant portion of his collection.
Jan Koum is a man of impeccable taste, collecting a number of rare and elusive Porsches over the years. Now that he’s struggling to find space for all of his favorite cars, he’s decided that the 2019 Amelia Island Auction is perhaps the most fitting way to dole out 10 of his least-admired vehicles. The incredulous collection will feature some of the German automaker’s most sought after vehicles ranging from the early ‘90s, all the way to their modern-day iterations. Standout showpieces in the collection are a 1995 993 Carrera that’s been finished in a gorgeous Speed Yellow livery, a 1993 964 RS that’s one of only 11 ever made, and a 2011 GT3 RS Special Edition that’s only been driven for 150 miles. To round out the mind-blowing collection, a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach that’s one of only 162 to ever grace the blacktop is being sold to the highest bidder — and with less than 20 miles on the odometer, we’re willing to bet that it’ll be the star of the show.
