Auction Block: Ford GT40 Children’s Car

When we were kids, toy cars came in two varieties: the palm-sized Hot Wheels die-cast version and the much larger and cooler rideable Power Wheels. But even the best Power Wheels car doesn’t come close to how stellar this Ford GT40 Children’s Car is. And guess what? It could be yours.

Whether you want it as a collector’s item or you plan to gift it to your son or daughter, there’s a lot to be said for what it has to offer. For starters, the brilliant recreation of one of the world’s first supercars is only bolstered by its spot-on Gulf Oil livery. Better still, this bad boy appears to have in it a gas-powered functioning engine – likely a single cylinder with around 3 horsepower and a 22 mph top speed, but combustion nonetheless. When it comes to scaled-down kid’s cars, this one takes the cake. It’s expected to go for between $20,000-$30,000 at RM Sotheby’s Ft. Lauderdale auction this year.

Purchase: $20,000+
