Auction Block: 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B STi

Back in 1998, Subaru simultaneously celebrated both its 40th anniversary as well as its third consecutive FIA World Rally Championship title. In order to commemorate such an occasion, the Japanese-based automaker produced a limited-run of widebodied WRX’s known as the 22B STi. Some 400 were built for the domestic market and a further 24 for export, but alas, not one of them was destined for the US.

Pictured before you is #156 of those legendary STis, imported stateside in July 2020 as part of the “show or display” exemption. As such, you can only drive it for 2,500 miles per year, but that’s a small price to pay considering everything that’s included. For instance, it comes finished in ‘World Rally Blue’ with an aluminum hood, an enlarged scoop, widened fenders, as well as an adjustable rear wing. What’s more, it also features a set of gold-finished BBS alloys and some exclusive cherry blossom badging. And when it comes to the interior, you’ll find that the black and blue Recaro seats are spotless and the odometer only reads 40,000km (about 25,000mi). Powered by a turbocharged 2.2L EJ22G DOHC flat-four, it’s good for 280hp and 268lb-ft of torque. Make it yours by bidding on the BaT listing below.
