It took three iterations and over a decade for Lamborghini to get their SUV almost close enough to take off in the world of off-road suited vehicles. Aptly named the LM002, it was also their final attempt to break into this market. And while the Italian car manufacturer would ultimately stick with what they know, veering off the SUV track entirely, they wouldn’t leave without accomplishing a first for production Sport Utility Vehicles.
We’re talking about its DOHC 48-valve V12 engine, derived specifically from the Lamborghini Countach. It’s what this1990 LM002 boasts under its hood and one of just 48 produced for the United States market. It was initially delivered to the buyer in 1991 where over the course of the next couple of decades, would only accrue a total of 3,384 miles during which time the LM002 spent the majority of its life in a climate controlled garage. The near mint condition vehicle features a fiberglass body that eliminates the possibility of rust, a pearl white paint job, rides atop a set of silver MSW/OZ Racing alloy wheels, and the interior red leather seating and matching carpet really allows this Lambo to vibrantly pop on the inside. It’s all set for auction now and is expected to sell for around $310,000. [Purchase]
