Auction Block: 6,000-Mile 1982 DeLorean DMC-12

Without question, the DeLorean DMC-12 is one of the most unique and coolest cars ever made. Sure, performance-wise it may have been a bit of a dud, but with a futuristic shape from wedge design master Giorgetto Giugiaro, unfinished stainless steel bodywork, and gull-wing doors, the car will always look like an exotic traveler from some cyberpunk future that never happened. And now you’ve got the chance to bring this ‘80s vision of tomorrow into your present, as a great example is being auctioned off by Bonhams.

The DeLorean in question is a 1982 with the 2.85 L SOHC V6 and rare five-speed manual transmission. The four-decade-old car has had just two owners from new, and the odometer registers fewer than 6,000 miles. As a result of how little it’s been driven, almost everything on the car is original, right down to its Goodyear tires. Given how ‘80s this particular car remains, whoever ends up buying it will essentially be time-traveling every time they sit in the driver’s seat — no flux capacitor needed. Bonhams is set to auction off the DeLorean at their Amelia Island Auction in Florida on May 20, where it’s expected to fetch between $25,000 and $35,000.
