BMW has a long-winded history when it comes to customization, and it’s not farfetched to believe that certain tuning brands have been taking advantage of their prevalent platforms since the birth of the brand. Perhaps the most notable customizer that the German car company has had the pleasure of working alongside is Alpina, a builder that reimagines the manufacturer’s most promising vehicles and releases them in a new light.

For the past 50 years, Alpina has been pushing BMW’s infamous models to the limit, and among the customizer’s numerous works, this 1982 B7 S Turbo Sedan is a testament to their life-long commitment. Utilizing a 3.5-liter inline-six that punishes the roadway with 330-horsepower and around 368 ft-lb of torque, the B7 would produce similar performance figures to that of the BMW E39 M5, a vehicle which would not see the light of day for another two decades. While Alpina wanted this specific vehicle to fulfill a variety of uses with the inclusion of an upgraded suspension system, bracing, and other peripherals, it was clear that the minimally-driven sedan would remain one of only 60 examples to ever be made — an iconic remembrance of Germany’s four-door performance platform. The 1982 B7 S Turbo in question is slated to be auctioned off via RM Sotheby’s on February 6 and is expected to fetch upward of $262,000+.

Purchase: $262,000+
