Auction Block: 1980 BMW M1
BMW makes a lot of great cars, but we could make the argument that the BMW M1 could be the greatest one to ever hail from the German auto maker. Now you have the chance to own one of these rare gems as this 1980 M1 gets ready to hit the auction block.
The car was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, and was one of the most iconic supercars manufactured during the late 1970s. The beloved M1 was built between 1978 through 1981, and in those 4 short years of production, there were only 453 total vehicles made. Under the hood was a 3.5-liter inline-six pumping out 273 horsepower straight from the factory. Of course tuners started getting ahold of these, showing off the true horsepower potential of the Bavarian supercar. Every so often, one of these automotive icons becomes available for sale, and that’s exactly what we have here. This 1981 model has just 19,000 kilometers on the odometer, and sports a head turning orange paint job. The vehicle is set to be auctioned off on August 14th, 2015, and should fetch anywhere from $450,000 to $550,000. [Purchase]
