Auction Block: 1978 Porsche 911SC By Rothsport

First established in 1998, Rothsport is a renowned Oregon-based Porsche tuning outfit that specializes in modifying, upgrading, and/or restoring air-cooled examples from the Stuttgart brand. And while the Sherwood shop does work with road-going specimens, Rothsport is most famous for its stripped-down race cars — one of which has just popped up for sale on Bring-A-Trailer.

Built by Rothsport in 2007, the racer is based on a 1978 911 Super Carrera and is powered by a Rothsport-tuned 3.0L flat-six mated to a 915 five-speed gearbox. Riding on 16” Fuchs wheels shod in Toyo Proxes RR tires, the 911 sports 964-style bumpers, a fiberglass rear wing and rocker panels, headlight covers, and Lexan rear and corner window panels. Track imperfections are now soaked up via a custom track-grade suspension setup with Bilstein front struts, Elephant Racing suspension bushings, and JRZ rear shocks. Reinforced via a custom Rothsport roll-cage, the 911’s fully-gutted interior features an OMP racing seat with a Schroth harness, a quick-release MOMO steering wheel, a modified WEVO tall shifter, and an aftermarket instrumentation setup. Eligible for competitive club and Spec911 racing events, This Rothsport-Modified 1978 Porsche 911SC is available on BaT in Portland, Oregon through elite automotive dealer Avant Gard, where (as of the time of writing) bidding has reached $18,911.
