Auction Block: 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS Custom Targa

Dec 21, 2017

Category: Rides

For someone whose job is to craft Hollywood’s most iconic rides, such as the original Batmobile and KITT from Knight Rider, their daily driver would be on the same level of outrageous customization. The man behind these cars is George Barris and his personalized whip is this 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS.

Barris started this build by pushing out the fenders to accommodate an extra broad set of BBS RS alloy wheels, giving unique curb appeal to the Italian sports car. Multiple modifications to the headlights and a one-off deep chin spoiler clean up the nose of the car while a matching rear grill and spoiler complement the alterations made up front. Inside the car George crafted a sci-fi style control panel with digital display, then added a car phone, television, and backup camera to pack this 308 full of features way ahead of its time.
