Auction Block: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 No. 18 & 30
Chevrolet’s Camaro ZL1 is one of the most legendary of all American Muscle cars, though only 69 were ever originally built – making it one of the rarest, as well. Now two of them, numbers 18 and 30, are headed to auction courtesy of Mecum. But, these pristine beasts can only be purchased as a set.
ZL1 No. 18 actually has a bit of history in the car world, as it is is one of just 10 finished in Code-51 Dusk Blue and was restored by supercar specialist Dave Tinnell. No. 30, however, has some boastful features of its own – namely only 361 miles on the odometer, a Hugger Orange paint job, and it underwent an expert restoration in 2004. And both retain their original all-aluminum 427 430 HP ZL1 engines (inarguably the biggest highlight of this legendary short-lived vehicle) and factory 4-speed transmissions. But this level of rarity doesn’t come without a price, as the set of two is expected to sell for between $1,250,000-$1,750,000 when they hit the block in January, 2018.
