The Shelby GT500 first began production in 1967, bringing a significantly bigger engine than its predecessor, the GT350, along with it. It was a car that demanded attention, both with its beautiful sound and its gorgeous design.
There were just 2,044 total cars machined, and this olive green Shelby GT500 will be up for auction in April through Auctions America. It pushes 355 hp from its 428 cubic inch, 7.0 litre Interceptor V8 engine — power that simply couldn’t be matched by other road legal cars at the time. Its power gave drivers the ability to come in first in virtually every drag race they entered. It has the original matching numbers, and it maintains its original parts, including the engine, intake, transmission and carburettors. It’s expected to fetch between $150K and $175K at the auction.
