Auction Block: 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra S/C

Carroll Shelby is a figure as closely related to racing as a checkered flag, with a legacy that’s just as iconic. One of his crowning achievements, the ultra cool Shelby Cobra, was somehow able to be made even cooler when he decided to cram a 500 hp V8 into the pint sized racer. A lucky few were able to own one of the 45 street legal ‘semi-competition’ units, which was the fastest factory production car ever made at the time.

This specific 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra S/C is an astonishing piece of work as it has matching numbers on the engine, drivetrain, and all original body panels, a feat rarely seen on a 50 year old car that many believed was too fast to handle. With only four owners putting a dismal 26,000 miles on the odometer there is still a ton of life left in this snake, a model considered to be the greatest street Cobra ever.
