Auction Block: 1965 Volkswagen Beetle

Though not as highly-lauded as some of its performance-based brethren, Germany’s Volkswagen Beetle is still one of the most iconic vehicles of all time. And while there are a seemingly endless number of ways to chop and transform them into something almost unrecognizable — like a dune buggy — we’re also partial to tasteful restorations that honor the original. This 1965 VW Beetle is one such example, and it’s up for auction.

Originally delivered to California, this gorgeous automobile actually stayed with its first owner up through 2017. It was even recovered after having been briefly stolen during the 1980s. Around 2005, it went through a comprehensive refurbishment — including a clean-up of the 1,200cc flat-four engine, a rebuild of the transmission and gearbox, a bare-metal repaint to factory-standard Sea Blue, and some cosmetic upgrades — like a picture-perfect set of whitewall tires. With a clean Oregon title to match its gorgeous interior and exterior, this automotive icon can be yours — so long as you can beat the current bid of $15,000.

Purchase: $15,000+
