Auction Block: 1965 Shelby 289 Cobra

Over the course of vehicular history, few vehicles have made a truly lasting impression on the car world. The Shelby Cobra can count itself among those few, both for its stunningly iconic good looks and its remarkable performance. And now, the last 289 ever sold to the public (and 2nd to last ever built) is headed to Mecum’s auction block.

Complete with its original chassis, body, V8 ‘Hi-Po’ engine, and drivetrain, this is a remarkably original example. In fact, it was even painted back to its factory Rouge Iris color in 2006. It’s also had all of its mechanical bits looked over and taken care of by its last owner, noted Shelby expert and historian Colin Comer out of Milwaukee. This is a rare chance to own one of the most historically significant vehicles of all time, and one in spectacular condition, to boot. It will hit the block at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction in January of 2019. No reserve has been listed.
