In preparation for the upcoming Monterey Car Week here in the coming months, we’re already getting a sneak peak at what’s slated to hit the auction block at one of the week’s most anticipated events. One such offering? Try this 1963 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight on for size, formerly the competition coupe for Team Cunningham.
Previously owned by the likes of Paul Vestey, Lord Bamford and Campbell McLaren, this car has participated in its fair share of races over the years including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Bridgehampton 500. In their heyday, these E-Types were, in fact, faster than the revered Ferrari 250 GTO, hence its nickname – the GTO killer. Since then, its story has been well documented throughout books on classic race cars and has even been immortalized as a toy for younger enthusiasts. It’s slated for auction this August and we can only imagine the kind of coin that will be dropped to add this ride to a lucky winner’s collection.
