Toyota has a storied past as one of the most trusted, dependable automotive manufacturers the world over, and the Land Cruiser line has consistently fostered a commanding presence when it comes to tried and true heritage. Now, RM Sotheby’s is selling a prime example of Toyota’s overlanding legacy.
Feast your eyes on the rugged but beautiful 1960 Toyota FJ25 Soft-Top — an all-wheel-drive vehicle that was imported and utilized on banana and coffee plantations in Central America for over 40 years. The frame-off restoration retains it’s original Lily White and Coral colorway, and even features period-correct vinyl interior upholstery, a handsome original dash cluster, and the iconic minimalist design for which FJ’s are known. In an attempt to bring the vehicle a little closer to modernity, the 105-horsepower 3.9-liter F 135 inline six-cylinder engine was completely rebuilt, thanks to hydraulic cylinder honing and a thorough understanding of engine crank blueprints from the original FJ25. If it seems like this immaculate adventure vehicle might be in your wheelhouse, you’re in luck — this iconic cruiser will be up for auction via RM Sotheby’s in 2019.
