Back in the 1950s and 1960s, there was one name that was synonymous with superb custom cars: Dean Jeffries. An Iowa boy that grew up outside of Los Angeles, California, Jeffries would cement himself as a legend in the car world thanks to his pioneering hot rod work and on-screen vehicles (like the moon buggy from Diamonds Are Forever and Black Beauty from The Green Hornet). Now, one of his most legendary works of art is headed to the Bonhams auction block: this 1956 Porsche 356A Carrera GS.
A legendary car on its own, this one-of-a-kind custom job is even more incredible thanks to Jeffries having personally customized it. And the upgrades are fairly extensive – including the addition of twin ignition, two twin-throat carburetors, and dry-sump lubrication. After its creation, this immaculate classic car won over 30 best-in-show awards around Southern California, and it’s easy to see why. Now’s your chance to own a piece of true automotive history. But it will come at a cost, as this car is expected to sell for as high as $600,000.
