Some 185-years after the Scottish distillery was established, Bowmore distilled an elite Islay single malt in 1964. Known as Bowmore Black, this whisky’s inception took place the year after legendary British marque, Aston Martin released its iconic DB5. Fast-forward 56-years later to today, and the two UK companies are celebrating this pivotal point in time via the release of an ultra-exclusive single malt christened the Aston Martin x Bowmore Black DB5 1964.
Boasting 49/6% ABV, this prestigious whisky comes in hand-made custom bottles that each sport a genuine Aston Martin DB5 piston as its base. Furthermore, these bespoke-made glass and aluminum bottles are sold inside a luxury leather-bound gift box with debossed “1964” and “DB5” branding and polished hardware, buckle, and hinges. In addition to the ultra-top-shelf liquor, the box also includes a numbered engraved plaque and an inset commemorative booklet that delves into the history of both companies involved, and their respective happenings in the 1960s. As legitimately one of the finest Scotches in the world, the Bowmore Black DB5 unsurprisingly carries a substantial price-tag of $65,600 for each of the 25 bottles that are being produced.
