Astell&Kern Is Making Their Flagship Hi-Res Audio Player Even Better

Aug 9, 2021

Category: Tech

High-end South Korean audio brand Astell&Kern was already one of the top names in the game when it came to high-resolution portable audio players, and now the company is unleashing their most impressive entry in the segment yet with their new flagship, the A&ultima SP2000T.

Building on the platform of Astell&Kern’s existing flagship, the SP2000, the SP2000T brings several new innovations to the table. It’s the first-ever quad-DAC (Digital Audio Converter) player from the brand, with four ESS ES9068AS DAC chips allowing for more balanced audio with greater detail. There’s a new Triple Amp system that adds a retro vacuum tube amp to the SP2000’s OP amp configuration, giving you the choice of listening via tube amp mode, normal op-amp mode, or the new hybrid amp mode that combines the best of both worlds. A third major update is the addition of Replay Gain, which allows the player to automatically adjust the volume between tracks to maintain a consistent playback level. There’s also a full HD touch screen, Dual-Band WiFi, MQA, LDAC, and more. Astell&Kern will reveal more details about the A&ultima SP2000T prior to its release in Oct. 2021.
