Arctic Swell: Surfing The Ends of the Earth

Think all surfers are laid-back stoners with no initiative? You’re dead wrong. Here’s an example of some surfers who show an insane amount of initiative. Granted, it’s all in the name of more waves, but still, would you to go the Arctic Circle to pursue your passion?

But that’s just what the very talented and gutsy Patrick Millin, Brett Barley, and Chadd Konig did, and lucky for us (and them), ace photographer Chris Burkard tagged along to capture the vivid beauty of their insanity. Digging out from under massive snowstorms to go surf in water with temperatures barely above freezing takes balls the size of overly ripe watermelons, and yet after seeing this dramatic and beautiful footage, we can almost understand why they did it.
