Amazon Key

In another bid to make sure you get all goods delivered safely and securely to your home, Amazon is introducing a new service. Called simply Amazon Key, this service will allow couriers (or anyone you trust) to gain access through your front door in order to deliver packages, clean your home, and more.

It works like this: if you are an Prime member, you can apply for the service. Then, you simply need to pick up Amazon’s Cloud Cam – a Wi-Fi enabled security camera with smartphone integration – and a compatible smart lock (both available from the brand directly). Once you have it all set up, Amazon couriers will be able to notify you, via your phone, when they are ready to deliver a package. If you do not deny them access, they will open up your front door, drop off your packages, and lock up again – all while your camera sends video directly to your phone. You can also grant access to trusted folks like house cleaners, friends, or whomever else you so choose. The kit, which includes a Cloud Cam and compatible smart lock, is on pre-order now for $250.

Purchase: $250
