The Amalgam Collection unquestionably produces the world’s most elite automotive scale models, and while it admittedly might seem a bit nuts to shell out upwards of $20,000 on a model car, the level of detail and craftsmanship on display is unparalleled and nothing short of world-class. And while everything the company makes is painstakingly accurate and thoroughly top-shelf, Amalgam’s Race Weathered vehicles boast an even more astonishing level of detail, as evidenced by the latest addition to this prestigious collection, a 1:8 scale recreation of the Mercedes-Benz W196 Monoposto that was driven to victory at the 1955 British Grand Prix by legendary race driver, Sterling Moss.
Measuring approximately 24” in length, each specimen is entirely hand-crafted by Amalgam, which partnered with Mercedes-Benz in order to access the marque’s records and photo archives in order to recreate the exact race-worn details and blemishes found on Moss’ GP-winning race car. On top of the vehicle model, the item also includes a display case and an archive quality Giclée print of the W196 as it crossed the line at the 1955 British GP. In total, the Amalgam Collection will be producing just five units, each of which is priced at $17,148. For more information, you can check out the Amalgam Collection’s website linked below.
