Am General Tactical Humvee

Way back in 1981, AM General was awarded a contract with the U.S. Military that would result in a game-changing military vehicle, the original Humvee – the same vehicle that would go on to become the civilian-friendly Hummer SUV. Now, a whopping 34 years later, AM General has finally figured out how to improve upon the monstrous tactical SUV with the brand-spanking-new NXT 360.

While it’s clear that this new version shares a lot of the same design cues, there are a hefty number of upgrades to be had. For instance, the NXT 360 offers greater survivability in the form of better undercarriage blast protection; better mobility in the form of higher ground clearance, beefier tires, and an improved suspension; and an increased payload capacity of 15,500 pounds. It also got an upgrade to its power plant, swapping out the old one for a much improved 6.5L V8 turbocharged engine capable of 250 horsepower and 450 foot-pounds of torque. Oh yeah, and it’s also set up to be mounted with a 360-degree Howitzer cannon for a little extra oomph on the battlefield.
