There are watches for practically every hobby out there — diving, motorsports, flying airplanes — but there aren’t really any watches that are specifically designed for motorcycle riding. Well, Alsta is changing that with their new Motoscaphe, an automatic watch that’s made for riding that was designed by watch journalist and motorcycle enthusiast Allen Farmelo.
The Alsta Motoscaphe boasts a number of features that should make it appeal specifically to riders. The crown is located on the left side of the watch in order to prevent it from digging into the wrist while riding. The bi-directional 12-hour bezel is an easy way to track a second timezone or elapsed hours, both handy features for long road trips. The movement is a robust, shock-resistant Seiko NH35 workhorse that can take a beating, and the 53.6m water resistance will easily stand up to any rain you encounter. The large, Super-LumiNova-filled indices and AR-coated sapphire crystal allow for high visibility in all conditions, and the versatile black styling with the perforated leather racing strap is meant to complement any bike. The Motoscaphe is available now from Alsta for £645 (~$898).
