One of the key ingredients within the craft cocktail scene is infused liquor. It’s what makes a bar-specific cocktail unique and hopefully non-replicable amongst the competition. The art is nothing new, however, as bartenders have been experimenting with fusing different flavors for some time now. Now you have the rare opportunity to successfully infuse your own liquors at home, bringing your armchair bar critiques to the center stage of your home turf.
It’s called the Alkemista, and it’s exactly what you’re thinking: an alcohol infusion vessel that facilitates the infusion of fresh fruit, spices, herbs and botanicals into your favorite (or not-so-favorite) liquors and spirits. It’s all based off the classic design of Japanese teapots and liquor bottles that make the process so easy. Simply load up the 200ml of your preferred ingredients into the ultra fine and removable filter at the bottom of the bottle and pour your spirit of choice into the laboratory-grade 950ml borosilicate glass bottle. Then, just screw the silicone cork stopper shut. It sits atop a leak-proof stainless steel bottom lid and the whole piece will work to infuse the spirit to your liking. It all depends on how long you let it linger. Reservations are available on Kickstarter for a March 2017 delivery and the Alkemista is slated to retail at $49. [Purchase]
