It’s getting cold, it is raining more often, and the days are getting shorter. Usually all of these things put together spell an end for sneaker wearing season. The wet and cold force us to put our favorite kicks back in their boxes where they sit unused for the rest of the year. Or, at least most of them do. Thanks to a collaboration with the sneaker store Size?, one of the most classic pair of shoes ever made, the Adidas Stan Smith, will not be among those doomed to sit in the closet until May.
Billed as a follow up to last year’s winterized collaboration with Vans, this limited pair of shoes take a decidedly old school route. They feature Stan Smith’s face laser etched into the tongue and his name written in the back just like the originals did when they were released in 1971. For keeping rain out of your socks, the suede upper, which comes in either an olive or a black, is treated with a hardwearing wax that ages and gains a patina the more you wear them. Each color comes with a dark brown gum sole and retail for around $95. [Purchase]
