There are talented figures in pop culture, and then there is Pharrell Williams. The Virginia Beach native has pushed the envelope on countless occasions across boundless walks of life, and his consistent partnership with adidas is merely one example. Looking to set yet another standard, Skateboard P and the three stripes have come together for a future-forward pair of high tops, the HU NMD S1 RYAT.

By blending function with a pastel-like palette, the world-famous producer’s signature splash of color had no choice but to appear here, and it makes for a seamless combo. The shoe’s upper is composed of premium materials like suede and leather, then rounded out with a TPU mudguard and toecap to prevent unforeseen wear and tear. Standing out among the other elements is a BOOST midsole encapsulated in a translucent TPU cage, managing to utilize adidas’ proprietary performance tech with a touch of icy style.

With accents of turquoise, yellow, and green overtaking the primarily white silhouette, Pharrell claims that the new release serves as “a cultural artifact and an object for humans pushing forward on our planet,” going to show that it’s meant for people like him and anyone else concerned about the future. Whether it’s his aim toward manufacturing skin-and-eco-friendly grooming products or simply making a song about being happy, Williams’ persistent sense of optimism is one we can all appreciate.

Interpreting a traditional hiking shoe form in an untraditional way, the collaborative HU NMD S1 RYAT “nods to the idea of future utopias, and a frictionless combination of the urban outdoor.” You’ll be able to experience that future yourself when the shoes go on sale at adidas’ online store on April 23 for $250.
