Adidas Futurecraft Runner

These blacked out beauties first made their appearance at this summer’s Rio Olympics where they were given to gold medalists. Now, it has just been announced that adidas will be putting a limited number of their completely 3D printed Futurecraft Runners up for sale this winter.

Aside from being incredibly cool looking, this shoe may very well contain features that will soon become standard among high-end athletic sneakers. Most notable is the fact that this shoe features no glue. Everything from the upper to the midsole and heel counter is totally integrated. Talk about seamless. While that is an exciting new innovation – what may be even more promising is how customizable 3D printing can be. Mikal Peveto, the Senior Director of adidas’ Future team, is imagining a future where customers can use this technology to produce a completely unique and form-fitting shoe (watch out, NikeiD.) Until then, though, we’ll just be sitting here coveting these. If you’re looking to get your hands on a pair, head over to adidas’ Confirmed app on the 13th to reserve your pair for pickup in NYC for $333. [Purchase]
