A-COLD-WALL is one of streetwear’s most prominent outfits. Since its debut, the adaptation of iconic clothing has taken on new meaning. Once drab items have been refinished and refurbished into minimalistic military icons, utilitarian style has become increasingly accepted, and “functional” fashion has become a trend that won’t die out anytime soon. Now, the brand has partnered with one of the world’s most prominent footwear providers, Converse, to create an all-new aesthetic collection.
The new A-COLD-WALL x Converse collection features two updated footwear silhouettes — the Vulcanized Chuck Taylor, and ERX 260 — alongside a color-blocked coach’s jacket, geometric track jacket, and a technical tote bag adorned with Ripstop material. While the garments and accessories introduce a variety of technical aspects to the collection, including transparent nylon overlays, velcro placket closures, and asymmetrical stitching, the footwear remains the most alluring. The ERX 260 is a dystopian recreation of the original, incorporating a waterproof, textured suede upper, nubuck overlay, and marble detailing, complementing its semi-translucent rubber outsole. The star of the show, Converse’s Vulcanized Chuck Taylor, boasts an elevated, hiking-inspired silhouette that mixes a woven dobby technical ripstop upper, textured mudguard foxing, and a grippy tread for an interesting take on the classic. Head to A-COLD-WALL’s website to check out the collection, which starts at $110.
