For over 40 years now, the cross-country G-Wagen has been lauded for its capable construction, attractive styling, and world-class performance throughout a number of harsh environments. The ex-military 250GD, especially, has become a symbol of the vehicle’s commitment to excellence — and now, Expedition Motor Co. has decided to pay homage to the past four decades of the G-Wagen with a series of custom ‘Wolf’ builds.
Expedition’s newest collection gives light to a handful of interesting off-road traits, but the inclusion of an all-new two-door convertible/cabriolet soft top body configuration and a fold-down windshield are sure to steal the show for iconic G-Wagen enthusiasts. Each bespoke model comes as a product of the company’s meticulous attention to detail, with over 1,000 hours of hand restoration, and a thorough assembly process that occurs over a 12-16 week period. After a complete strip-down, each bare-metal variant undergoes a strict inspection before it’s admitted to a full-body sandblasting process, outfitted with new fuel/brake lines, reengineered rotors/drums, and an upgraded suspension system. A rebuilt OM6022.5L inline-five diesel engine is accented with improved pistons, seals, belts, and pumps, complementing the Wagen’s various exterior modifications. Head over to Expedition Motor Co.’s website if you’re interested in acquiring your own 40th Anniversary Wolf; $90,000 will get your foot in the door.
