GMC Adds the Rugged & Luxurious AT4X Trim to Its 2023 Canyon Pickup

Long gone are the days when adventuring and luxury were mutually exclusive. Car brands are continuing to recognize the growing desire to retain comfort while venturing off-road. Last year, GMC introduced the new upscale AT4X trim to its full-size Sierra 1500 pickup trucks. Aside from some updates to the drivetrain to increase capabilities on any terrain, the luxury trim boasted some elevated cosmetic specs and a premium audio system as well.

Today, along with the AT and Denali models, GMC has announced that its mid-size Canyon truck will get the same AT4X treatment, making it not just one of the burliest pickups on the market, but the most technologically advanced as well. While the Sierra is the truck marque’s top-of-the-line option, the Canyon serves as a more budget-friendly mid-size choice for those who don’t need the carrying power of a full-size truck. That said, the AT4X bridges the gap between the two models and gives drivers a more robust feel without the profile and cost of a larger ride.

Designed to traverse rockier landscapes with a 10.7” ground clearance and 36.9-degree approach angle, the Canyon AT4X comes equipped with a 2.7L turbo high-output engine with 310hp, 430lb-ft of torque, and a towing capacity of 5,500lbs. The cockpit on the new truck is also quite spectacular, with a state-of-the-art digital information center with an 11.3” touchscreen, 11” instrument cluster, and a seven-speaker Bose audio system.

The new Canyon AT4X also comes with the brand-new, super-limited Edition 1 package, which includes plus-ups like front- and rear-facing underbody cameras and an off-road bumper with a safari bar. Production for the new Canyon line will start this spring. While the AT4X Edition 1 retails for $63,350, the rest of the GMC Canyons will start at just $40,000.
