Chevrolet Teases the First Mid-Engine Corvette Z06 Ahead of its October Debut

Earlier this summer, Chevrolet announced that it would be building on the groundbreaking mid-engined Corvette with an even sportier Z06 model. Since that time, the Golden Bowtie has teased us relentlessly, first announcing a reveal date and subsequently showing off a series of camo-clad prototypes. Now, though, Chevrolet has released an image of the car as it’ll hit the showrooms.

To be clear: we’re still a couple of weeks out from the planned October 26th unveil, so the exact drivetrain details are few and far between. Sure, there’s been some talk of a flat-plane crankshaft V8, but any outputs are just an estimate at this point. Thankfully, however, the above image makes the Z06’s visual changes readily apparent, also hinting at the potential performance of the angrier upcoming ‘Vette. For starters, it features some heavily revised front fascia, with the grille opening, the ducts, and the splitter all being tweaked to resemble those found on the C8.R racecar. What’s more, it wears a more aggressive hood, a set of widened fenders, as well as some multi-spoke wheels and a pair of gaping side air intakes — presumably to help with cooling efficiency. With no wing to be seen, our best guess is that it’ll be part of an optional upgrade package. And, while you can’t see the back end from this shot, rumor has it that the Z06 will sport a quad exhaust setup and a redesigned rear bumper.

You can catch the full reveal of the 2023 Corvette Z06 on October 26th. In the meantime, chances are pretty good that Chevrolet will tease further pictures and details.
