As you may have noticed, electric cars are very much the future. Every day it seems a new legacy brand is making a pledge to electrify their entire fleet within the next decade or so as a new generation of fully electric automakers threatens to become the Ford and Toyota of tomorrow. One such brand is Polestar, which has just made a big splash by announcing that their next vehicle will be produced in America.
The Polestar 3 is the Volvo subsidiary’s upcoming third production vehicle: a high-performance electric SUV, about which little is known. But one thing we do now know is that the car will be manufactured at the Volvo Cars production center in Ridgeville, South Carolina for American consumers. The Polestar 3 has been designed from scratch for full electrification and marks a new generation for Volvo Group’s electric architecture. The luxury SUV will sport an aerodynamic, performance-oriented body and will feature industry-leading connectivity features based on Android Automotive OS, along with safety-focused autonomous driving features. Production of the Polestar 3 is expected to begin in South Carolina in 2022.
