Polaris Partners With Zero Motorcycles On A High-Performance All-Electric UTV

Since the debut of the first-ever Polaris RANGER 6×6 model in 1999, the American-made workhorse has been an industry leader in the UTV class. And despite being treated to a slew of different engine sizes and model variants over the last 20 years, Polaris has just announced what is almost certainly the most substantial update to the RANGER ever with a brand-new all-electric version of the popular UTV.

The latest step in Polaris’ “rEV’d Up” strategy, this new full-size RANGER was born out of an extensive collaboration with Zero Motorcycles and sees the SxS bestowed with a Zero-co-developed powertrain and battery pack system, opening up the door to previously unachievable amounts of instantaneously-accessible torque. The proton-powered RANGER will retain the gas-engined version’s immense durability, utility, and versatility while upping performance and providing a near-silent ride. Pricing has yet to be announced, though Polaris has stated it will be manufacturing the new Electric RANGER at its Huntsville, Alabama facility and that the model is slated to hit dealerships in early 2022.
