Land Rover Classic Honors Its Past with a Defender Works V8 Trophy Edition

Last year, Land Rover Classic revived images of its past Camel Trophy glory by creating the extremely-limited Defender Works V8 Trophy; a retro-themed, fully kitted-out off-roader that offered its buyers the privilege of competing in an exclusive three-day competition at Land Rover’s Eastnor Castle testing grounds. Now, the British marque is at it again with the release of the Defender Works V8 Trophy II.

Rather than being themed on the Camel Trophy specifically, the new Defender Works V8 Trophy pays tribute to the overall legacy of Land Rover’s global expeditions. In place of last year’s yellow Camel-inspired livery, the V8 Trophy II sports a unique camo livery that incorporates 23 locations important to the brand’s adventurous past alongside hidden silhouettes of classic Land Rovers. Based on the 2012-2016 Defender Works V8, just as before, the bespoke builds are entirely rebuilt with upgraded suspension, brake systems, and steering, and are again powered by a 5.0L V8 making 399hp and 380lb-ft of torque.

The Land Rover Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy II has also been fitted with a slew of off-road additions to ready it for overland adventures. These include a protective bull bar with an integrated winch, a roof-mounted 1.27m LED light bar, rock sliders, an external roll bar, Gloss Black 18-inch Sawtooth alloy wheels, and a glare-reducing matte-black hood. The interior, meanwhile, has been treated to an upgrade in luxury, with Recaro sports seats and trim all executed in contrasting black-and-white Windsor leather.

Like last year’s edition, all buyers of the new Defender Works V8 Trophy will be allowed to take part in an exclusive three-day Trophy Event featuring off-road competition and expert one-on-one driving lessons. The Land Rover Defender Works V8 Trophy II is limited to 25 total examples across the 90 Station Wagon, 110 Station Wagon, and 110 Double Cab Pick-Up bodies, with prices starting from £225,000 (~$273,105) for the 90.
