Ferrari is taking things in a new direction for its future crop of supercars, jettisoning its traditional 8 and 12 cylinder models in favor of smaller, more efficient, Formula One-style hybrid powertrains. And the Prancing Horse’s latest model to receive this treatment is the all-new 2022 296 GTB.

The new Gran Turismo Berlinetta car features a 2,992cc V-6 paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and dual IHI turbochargers that spin at up to 180,000rpm and enable the 296 to put down 818hp and 545ft-lbs of torque. Derived from the famed Italian automaker’s F1 program, the 296 GTB also boasts a 164hp electric motor and a 7.45kWh battery that can independently power the car for more than 15 miles or keep the turbos spooled up. Alongside the already impressive and wildly-capable base model, Ferrari is also offering an Assetto Fiorano track package that includes GT Racing-derived Multimatic dampers, numerous carbon fiber elements, a host of weight savings, optional Lexan windows, and a gray and yellow livery inspired by the Ferrari 250LM.
