Until recently, it was a nigh-on impossible to break into the automotive industry. However, with the EV revolution currently in full swing, the old guard has been caught unawares, giving ambitious upstarts the chance they have long deserved. Take, for instance, California-based Elation Hypercars.

Born out of the combined effort between a professional pilot and a championship-winning race car builder, Elation Hypercars is poised to disrupt the industry with the first-ever EV hypercar to be made in America. Dubbed the ‘Freedom,’ Elation’s initial offering will be a 1,414hp model featuring race-bred tech. For instance, in cooperation with Cascadia Motion, Elation has developed a three-motor drivetrain that will take a jet of comparable weight to 322mph. And thanks to a specially designed 100kWh battery pack, the Freedom has an estimated 300mi range with the possibility of upgrading to a 120kWh unit good for 400mi. Topped off with a pair of electro-hydraulic gearboxes and some Formula One-inspired double-wishbone suspension, and the result is a car that promises a drive on par with its stunning looks. Should petrol be more your speed, there will also be a limited run of cars featuring a 5.2L V10. Prices start at $2M with deliveries expected for 2022.

Purchase: $2,000,000
