Aston Martin’s upcoming Valkyrie hypercar was already one of the rarest and most extreme cars in the world, and now the legendary British marque is upping the ante even more by announcing the even rarer and more extreme Valkyrie Spider.
The Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider is, unsurprisingly, the fastest open-top car that Aston has ever made. The standard Valkyrie’s 1,140 horsepower V12 hybrid powertrain remains unchanged in the Spider, but the drop-top does offer more newness than just a removable carbon fiber roof panel. The roadster’s entire carbon fiber structure has been revised, while the active aerodynamic and active chassis systems have both been recalibrated. All of this tinkering was done to ensure that there would be no loss in performance from the Valkyrie coupe to the Spider, and it worked. The Spider is capable of reaching 205 mph with the roof off, and 217 mph with it on. The Spider has also gained new doors, with the standard Valkyrie’s gullwing-style doors having been swapped out for custom front-hinged dihedral doors that don’t interfere with the roof assembly. Aston Martin is making just 85 examples of the Valkyrie Spider, and every single one of them is already spoken for.
