Toyota’s ‘Trail’ SUVs & Trucks Are More Off-Road-Ready Than Ever Before

Toyota’s robust automotive lineup isn’t one to be trifled with, and it’s proven year in, and year out that there’s a reason for each model’s renowned resale value. It seems the company can do no wrong, and that notion has been further reinforced by the announcement of a sporty, “outdoorsy” collection that’s slated to give its most prominent pickups (and SUV) and trail-focused performance upgrade.

The 2021 Toyota “Trail Special Edition” Collection — which has debuted alongside shadowy, supplementary package known as Nightshade — focuses on the newest iterations of the Tacoma, Tundra, and 4Runner. A selection of ruggedized peripherals and components have been implemented to gift each vehicle a more domineering off-road presence, calling upon improvements like 18-inch TRD Off-Road wheels, Kevlar All-Terrain tires, sliding cargo trays, a custom 40-quart cooler, and even a Yakima LoadWarrior rooftop cargo basket, complementing the collection’s Army Green, Cement, Midnight Black, and Super White colorways. Inside, the specialized vehicles have been enhanced with black seating, tan contrast stitching, and all-weather floor mats fit for impending mischief. Only 7,000 Trail Special Tacomas, 5,000 Trail Special Tundras, and 4,000 Trail Special 4Runners are slated for production, so keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming release date.
