TAXA Unveils An Even More Off-Road-Capable Overland Edition Mantis Trailer

Garrett Finney spent a decade working on the ISS and designing lunar habitats for NASA before applying his unique set of skills to the off-road camper space, leading to the inception of TAXA Outdoors in 2009. Since then TAXA has steadily expanded its lineup, delivering a wide range of well-appointed go-anywhere campers and Overlanding rigs. And for the 2021 model year, the Houston-based outfit has taken one of its most capable models and treated it to a number of key updates and upgrades, allowing for an even more adventure-ready Mantis trailer.

Known as the 2021 Overland Edition Mantis, this mobile dwelling has a dry weight of just under 3,500lbs and room to accommodate four adults. Like the regular Mantis, the Overland Edition boasts a wet bath, a full galley kitchen with a top-shelf Truma furnace/hot water system, baltic birch cabinets, and a 20-gallon freshwater tank. It also gains a Timbren 5,200lb Axle-Less trailer suspension with a 4″ lift, resulting in a full 14” of ground clearance. Measuring 19’ L x 7’6” W x 7’ H, the rig also packs TAXA’s “Lock ‘N’ Roll” hitch system, a powder-coated steel chassis, 16″ wheels shod in all-terrain tires, powder-coated steel gravel guards, quad stabilizer jacks, and Kynar-painted aluminum composite panels. Available for order now, the TAXA Outdoors Overland Edition Mantis trailer starts from $49,950.
