Originally founded in 2016, Roofnest has spent the last half-decade establishing itself as one of the most eminent players in the off-road and Overlanding rooftop tent space, consistently releasing entirely new models or upgraded variants of existing offerings. And after previously introducing an XL-spec of its Sparrow tent last year, the Colorado company has now pulled the cover off of a new and improved version of the Sparrow XL for the 2021 season.
Now measuring 86″L x 61″W, the 2021 Sparrow XL has been redesigned and is now more spacious with 40” of headroom, plus a new dedicated gear storage area with an included waterproof storage bag, three, now larger doors and windows, and an included 7.5’ ladder that can be mounted on three sides of the tent. Capable of supporting up to 650lbs, the tweaked fiberglass-reinforced ASA/ABS construction shell has been paired with thicker polyurethane-coated polyester and cotton blend tent walls that have been rated at 3,000mm for waterproofing — three times that of a regular backpacking tent. Also sold with an anti-condensation mat, a 4’ x 4’ ground mat, the new tent comfortably sleeps up to three adults and is offered in black or white shell color options. Only $300 more than its predecessor, the 2021 Rooftent Sparrow XL is available now with pricing set at $3,395.
