Ford’s F-150 Raptor has long been viewed as the archetypal high-performance American pickup, though Ram is looking to thoroughly dethrone the Ford with its latest 1500 TRX for 2021. Borrowing elements from the luxury and supercar sectors, the 1500 TRX features a plush interior with an optional HUD, 900W 19-speaker Harman Kardon Premium Audio System, launch control, onboard dyno, 1/8th and 1/4 mile timer, steering angle sensors, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters.
Offering best in class horsepower and torque with 702hp and 650ft-lbs, the potent pickup’s supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 allows for 4.5-second 0-60mph runs. Fitted with Bilstein Black Hawk E2 shocks — which are exclusive to the TRX and reportedly the most sophisticated ever utilized on a production truck — the TRX has an 11.8” ground clearance supplemented by 13” of suspension travel up front and a cool 14” in the rear. There’s also Snow, Sport, Mud/Sand, Rock, and a customizable drive mode, an optional trailer reverse control system, and an upgrade to Beadlock wheels wrapped in 35” Goodyear Wrangler Territory All-Terrain tires. Ram is also building 702 examples of a carbon-clad, thoroughly-optioned Launch Edition. The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX starts at $70,095 — over $10K more than its Raptor rival — while the launch edition is priced at $90,265.
